How to Review Your Portfolio in the Portfolio Tracker

Using the free Junto Portfolio Tracker, you will want to regularly review how your portfolio is doing and what returns you have generated, realized and unrealized.

Let’s say that 2 months have gone by and you wish to take a look at your portfolio status. Two steps are required.

Step 1: Update Current Prices

The first thing you need to do is updating the current prices of your holdings by navigating to the Portfolio Holdings tab. Remember from our previous article on how to register purchase transactions, that we initially paid 200 USD per share for Company XYZ Inc and Div Corporation stock and 200 EUR for Euro Ventures GmbH.

The market prices have now changed, so we update them under the current price (local currency). Let’s also say that the USD/EUR exchange rate has changed.

To the right, you can now see how each of your holdings have performed on a currency-converted basis.

Step 2: Register a Non-Cash Flow Record

To now calculate the current money-weighted return of your entire portfolio, navigate to the Cash Register & Returns tab. Then, make a simple non-cash flow record as follows.

To the right of the Cash Register table, you can now see how your portfolio’s money-weighted return has developed for each cash flow record date.

Now, navigate to the Portfolio Overview to see your current portfolio status and performance.
